Daniel Radcliffe dismisses Wolverine rumours and says he doesn’t want to star in remakes

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed the reason why he won’t be playing Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying he doesn’t want to star in any remakes of films he loves.

The Harry Potter star was rumoured to be taking on the role of the X-Men favourite after he made a joke about being cast in an interview.

Radcliffe has now confirmed that he will not be playing Wolverine and explained why he wouldn’t want to.

“There was that whole thing where I made, what I thought was, an obvious joke about, I think, I said that [I’d be] Wolverine if he’d been shrunk in a hot wash, and then people thought that that was serious,” Radcliffe told Yahoo Movies UK.

“I got onto set on my next job in Australia and people were like, ‘So you’re playing Wolverine? That’s awesome man!’ and I was like, ‘No, no, no, that was a joke.’”

“Most of the films that I love I don’t think I would want to see remade,” he added. “And I certainly don’t think that I would want to be in the remakes of them.”

When the rumours first emerged of Radcliffe playing Wolverine, a picture (see below) imagining him in the role went viral.

Radcliffe currently stars in Playmobil: The Movie, in cinemas from Friday 9 August
