Chris Pratt has jokingly instructed Chris Hemsworth to “put on 25lbs” before the duo appear on-screen together.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Pratt will reprise his Marvel role as Star-Lord in the fourth instalment of the Thor franchise, entitled Thor: Love and Thunder.

On Saturday (21 November), Hemsworth – who portrays the titular superhero – shared a photo of himself training for the forthcoming film. In it, the 37-year-old is seen looking extremely muscular while lifting a huge wheel.

He accompanied the photo with a caption reading: “Cheat day today. Decided to treat myself to this extra large donut, gosh it’s heavy.”

Pratt took to the comments to express his mock disapproval at the image, claiming that he won’t be able to keep up with his co-star’s exercise regimen.

“Hey bud. Just heard from my trainer and he needs you to stop working out because since we’re gonna be in the same movie and everything he doesn’t want me to stand next to you if you look like that,” wrote Pratt.

He added: “So I’m gonna need you to put on 25 lbs real quick cool thanks.”

Hemsworth replied with his own joke, assuring Pratt that he could achieve the same effect with a photo filter.

He wrote: “Don’t worry mate we can just both use the same fancy filter that’s been applied here. It’s called Instashred.”

The Australian actor has been training with British strongman and athlete Ross Edgley in preparation for his role. In 2018, Edgley became the first person to swim the 1,780-mile distance around Britain.

Apart from making fans chuckle, Hemsworth’s post also gave fans a hint at what to expect from the highly anticipated movie.

When viewers last saw Thor in Avengers: End Game, the usually muscular god of thunder had put on weight and grown unkempt following his loss to Thanos in the preceding movie Avengers: Infinity War.

The film had Marvel fans wondering whether the superhero would be back in shape going into Thor: Love and Thunder. Hemsworth’s latest post suggests that he will be fitter than ever.

The movie is set to begin production in Australia in January, with Taika Waititi returning as director after his work on smash hit Thor: Ragnarok. It is currently set for release in February 2022.

Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana and Robert Downey Jr recently stepped in to defend their Avengers co-star Pratt, after the internet voted him “the worst Hollywood Chris”.

The age-old social media debate as to who of the four most famous Chris’s – Pratt, Hemsworth, Evans, and Pine – is the least likeable, resurfaced thanks to a viral tweet posted last month.
