Doctor Strange Exclusive Interview With Benedict Wong & Scott Derrickson

A new video has resurfaced of Benedict Cumberbatch surprising customers in a New York comic book store dressed as Doctor Strange in 2016.

The clip, which is now circulating on Twitter, sees the actor walking into a Manhattan comic book shop dressed in full costume as the famous Marvel sorcerer. The video was shot by Scott Derrickson, the director of 2016’s Doctor Strange, during a filming break.

The video begins with Cumberbatch speaking to camera, “I’m about to walk into a comic store in Manhattan dressed as Doctor Strange, come with me.”

Customers in the shop are visibly shocked to see the actor walk past them and greet the employees behind the counter.

“If the movie doesn’t work out and it bombs can I come work with you guys?” joked the Marvel star.

Cumberbatch then leaves after exchanging a few words with the excited employees and pausing to take a few pictures.

Photos from the surprise visit circulated back in 2016, but this is the first time that the full video has been shared.

Fans have responded enthusiastically. The Tweet has received nearly 35,000 likes since it was posted by Derrickson.

Cumberbatch’s next portrayal as the sorcerer will be in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film was initially scheduled for release in May 2021, however, has been postponed until 2022 due to the pandemic.
