Thanks to AMC Theatres in the US, we now know the run time of Zack Snyder’s latest superhero blockbuster will be, and it is going to be a long one.
Batman v Superman clocks in at 151 minutes (2h31m); longer than any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film including The Avengers which ran for 143 minutes.
However, while the two heroes brawling may take up the majority of the film, you also have to factor in the introduction of Wonder Woman, Doomsday, Lex Luthor and Alfred, not to mention The Flash and possibly Aquaman.
With such a long runtime, you’d expect it to be the longest Batman film yet, right? Wrong. The Dark Knight Rises, the final part of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, was 166 minutes.
It is also not even the longest Superman film, with Superman Returns clocking in three minutes longer.
Zack Snyder has also directed a longer superhero film before; Watchmen, the original cut for which was 162 minutes (then there was the Ultimate Cut which was 215 minutes).
Recently, reports have stated that Warner Bros. are worried the film will not meet expectations at the box office, and the Justice League film may not happen as a result. However, a date has just been set for when the JL film will commence filming, seemingly rubbishing these rumours.
