Disney has dropped the first teaser for Alice in Wonderland sequel Through the Looking Glass, showing lead actress Mia Wasikowska opening a door in the sky and tumbling through the clouds.
The follow-up to Tim Burton’s colourful and eccentric 2010 movie will reach cinemas in summer next year, based on Lewis Carroll’s story, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There.
Many of our favourite characters will be returning for more adventures, including Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Alan Rickman as Blue Caterpillar, Stephen Fry as Cheshire Cat and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen.
Sacha Baron Cohen and Rhys Ifans are also joining the cast, with the latter playing the Mad Hatter’s father which can only guarantee craziness. Baron Cohen is the mysterious Time.
“Today is a very important date. It’s Time to fall back,” Disney wrote on Twitter, making a pun on Daylight Saving Time around the world and using an emoji to get down with the kids.
Alice Through the Looking Glass arrives in UK cinemas on 27 May 2016. Bosses will be hoping it echoes the success of the original, which grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
