A Ghost Story - exclusive clip

Love can stretch across barriers, even that between life and death itself.

That's the expansive, ambitious idea behind David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Pete's Dragon)'s latest project A Ghost Story. Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck star as a couple torn apart by sudden tragedy, when Affleck's C is killed in a car accident outside of their home.

But his spirit lingers; here, as represented by a literal sheet ghost, who wanders his old home and watches as his wife, M, continues on with her life - working through grief, looking to a new future.

It's a quiet, meditative film which examines not only the processes of grief and loss, but expands those ideas into something wholly existential in its form.

Lowery actually shot the film in secret, unsure as to how the final product would turn out. Though there was little reason to worry, the film making a major splash when it premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. You can learn more about the film here.

A Ghost Story hits UK cinemas 11 August.
