The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards are a wrap.

The always charming yet abrasive Ricky Gervais returned for his fourth hosting gig at one of the biggest nights in film and television. Gervais has received much criticism for his offensive jokes in the past. From calling Kim Kardashian trashy to bringing up Robert Downey Jr's criminal history, Gervais has already tried to offer some reassurance to Hollywood's brightest stars.

“No one wants to be the butt of a joke, but I’m not trying to ruin their night. I’m making jokes,” Gervais said on Late Night with Conan O'Brien last week. “Also, I’ll do it about things they’ve done, not about things they can’t help. I think I’m fair.”

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association recently announced the event’s presenters featuring a long list of talent including: Viola Davis, Taraji P Henson, Terrence Howard, Michael Keaton, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Heart, Lady Gaga, Eva Longoria, Mark Wahlberg and Eddie Redmayne amongst many others.

The ceremony is often seen as a precursor to the Academy Awards. If you find yourself winning hardware at the Globes, there's a very good chance you'll take home an Oscar.

Denzel Washington will receive the annual Cecil B DeMille Award. Each year the HFPA Board of Directors honours folks who have made a "significant impact on the world of entertainment."
