Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Films

I came out of 'Slumdog Millionaire' uplifted. 'Kramer vs Kramer' is my favourite film ever.

Television

I love crime dramas like 'Inspector Morse'. I've recorded the 'Red Riding' trilogy. I have an interest in 'Lewis', the 'Morse' spin-off, starring my cousin Laurence Fox. I'm a fan of the American series 'The Wire', 'Mad Men' and 'The Sopranos'.

Music

Classical music is my longest love, especially anything with a cello. I played it as a girl. Elgar's Cello Concerto is a favourite piece.

Books

I loved 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter' by Kim Edwards about a father who decides to give his Down's child away. I'm about to read Josephine Hart's 'The Truth About Love'.

Theatre

My mum Joanna David is in Alan Ayckbourn's 'Woman In Mind' in the West End, about a woman who has a nervous breakdown. She has a real and a fantasy family. My mum plays her real sister-in-law. I saw 'Sympatico' at the Red Lion Pub; I like that intimate theatre experience.
