Comedian Michael McIntyre has laughed off his recent moped mugging after incorporating it into his set during his Dublin show.

The 42-year-old was set upon by two men near his children's school in north London on Monday. The pair smashed his car windows and stole his Rolex watch before fleeing the scene.

He was uninjured in the incident, and during the show even quipped: "They say time is the healer. I have lost my watch, how is time going to heal? I have no idea what time it is."

Performing at Dublin's 3Arena as part of his world tour, Mr McIntyre thanked his fans for their "amazing support" following the mugging, and admitted it was "touch and go" whether or not he would make the show.

However he called the venue his "favourite arena" and said of the crowd: "I could have done with you, 9,000 Dubliners.

"Unfortunately I had to fend for myself and it did not go well.

Describing the mugging for the audience last night, Mr McIntyre said: "It was not so much the fast and the furious as stationary and panicking. I could not get it [his car] started."

Police are still investigating the mugging and have not made any arrests.

The comedian, who is known for poking fun at his apparent "posh" lifestyle, joked that had he been wearing a cheaper watch it wouldn't have been stolen.

The Dublin show was Mr McIntyre's first performance in Ireland during his world tour.

Known for his appearances on prime-time quiz shows and on comedy showcase Live at the Apollo, McIntyre is one of Britain's most famous comedians.

A teenage fan was even taken to A&E after one of his shows in March after her chest became inflamed from laughing too hard.
