The Riba Lecture Series: Public Spaces, Public Places
5 October - Colin St John Wilson: "The New British Library"
"Strong feelings about space are not the privilege of architects: we all have them from the moment of birth in a body language that tells us instantly if we are threatened and put down or invited and at home. These are the experiences architecture should be handling."
Colin St John Wilson's walk-through tour of the building will explain why he chose the materials, the library's relationship with St Pancras Station and its position within the distinctly English Free School tradition of architecture.
All lectures start at 7pm, at Jarvis Hall, Riba, 66 Portland Place, London W1. Tickets pounds 4 (students and concessions pounds 2.50) from Riba Bookshop, address as above or telephone 0171-251 0791.
