No sweat: Robot completes 5km jog after teaching herself to run
A robot called Cassie built by Oregon State University has become the first bipedal android to complete a 5km jog outside.
Cassie uses machine learning to control her running gait so she can perform outside, and even taught herself how to run.
However, for those worried this might be the end for the Olympics as we know it, it took the robot around 53 minutes to complete the distance – which is more like walking pace for humans. Cassie also fell twice during the outing, once due to its computer overheating and once due to an attempted high-speed turn.
