Pope urges people to spend less on Christmas to give more to Ukraine

Pope Francis has urged people to spend less money on Christmas and give what they have saved to Ukraine.

The pontiff suggested a more “humble” festive season was needed, encouraging people to send aid to Ukrainians who need help as the Russian invasion continues into the bitterly cold months.

It comes after the Pope cried as he mentioned the suffering of Ukrainians during a traditional public prayer in Rome.
