Hotel Review: Moxy NYC Lower East Side, New York
This playful hotel is party central in the Lower East Side, with everything from a nightclub, rooftop bar, Japanese restaurant, piano lounge and regular events all ensuring it's buzzing 24/7. The rooms are compact but funky, the ambience around the hotel rather like a nightclub, and the neighbourhood pleasingly rough around the edges.

THE LOOK AND FEEL
There is a real buzzing atmosphere in the hotel, with so much going on and such funky décor all around. With its black walls, chandeliers, features like a lifesize bear sculpture and contemporary furniture, it's very reminiscent of a nightclub. The exterior is distinctive too, with brushed concrete, metal panelling and glass sheets creating a unique look.
THE FACILITIES
The hotel has an impressive range of facilities on offer, including a Japanese restaurant, piano lounge, subterranean club, ground floor bar, small café and a rooftop bar all on-site. There's also a gym, a tiny business centre, fitness classes and regular live events such as comedy nights and DJ sets.

BED AND BATH
Compact rooms are minimally furnished - there are no artworks, coffee machines, kettles or mini-bars - but the range of facilities in the hotel makes up for that and the simplicity is welcomed. The walk-in shower has a colourful sliding door and screens and there's a small foldaway desk. Floor-to-ceiling windows help you make the most of the view.

FOOD AND DRINK
The Fix has pastries, sandwiches and coffees, while the ground-floor bar serves bar bites. Sultry, low-lit piano lounge Silver Lining is a great way to while away the evening. More formal is Japanese restaurant Sake No Hana; there's nightclub Loosie's and a cocktail at The Highlight Room is a must.
The Fix: lobby venue, all-day dining, open daily.
Sake No Hana: Japanese restaurant, open daily from 6pm.
The Highlight Room: rooftop venue, cocktails and small plates. Open Wed-Sat from 5pm.
