THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The hotel is situated on the grand Herengracht canal, within walking distance of Dam Square, Rembrandt Square, the museum quarter and many main sites of the city. Lots of restaurants, bars, cafés, galleries and boutiques of the Nine Streets area of the Canal Belt and Jordaan area are nearby.
By train: the Eurostar goes direct from London St Pancras to Amsterdam Centraal. The hotel is under a 20-minute walk from the station. Book trains to Amsterdam.
By plane: direct flights from London and Manchester take around 1 hour 15 minutes. The hotel is a 25-minute drive from Schiphol airport and a 20-minute walk from central station. Parking costs €55 per day. Book flights to Amsterdam.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
The hotel has been created from a number of houses arranged along the Herengracht and inside is a warren of corridors and flights of stairs. The hotel has an exceptional modern art collection, with more than 800 works from the CoBrA movement on display. There are also some contemporary Dutch works and works by the Amsterdam Impressionists, and there are some antiques, often Louis XV/XVI.
