OUR REVIEW
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
This gem of a resort is tucked away in the ancient mountain village of Kalopanagiotis. Paphos airport and Nicosia, the capital, are about an hour's drive away. Car hire is recommended as public transport is very limited. Nearby, you'll find dramatic nature and scenery, wonderful walks and the Agios Ioannis Lambadistis monastery, one of the finest UNESCO sites in Cyprus.
By plane: flights to Paphos from London take 4 hours 30 mins; flights from Manchester take 4 hours 45 mins. The hotel is a 1 hour 50-minute drive from the airport. Free public parking. Book flights to Paphos.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
Luxurious, stylish, awesome - one runs out of superlatives when describing this wonderful retreat brought back to life a decade or so ago by a local businessman distressed that his childhood village was in decline. No expense has been spared on the project, which encompasses top-notch houses, plus a great spa and restaurants offering excellent local cuisine.
THE FACILITIES
Passion for the project and the natural surroundings shows through in friendly attentive service. The elegant Myrianthousa spa with its indoor pool, whirlpool, snow cabin and panoramic views is perfect respite after a day's hiking. There are also five restaurants, a wine bar, stylish library and a cultural centre.

FOOD AND DRINK
The food in all five restaurants is first-rate. We dined on tasty moussaka at Byzantino and delicious barbecued langoustines hanging from a hook at Loutraki. Cypriot and mountain ingredients feature strongly and include goat's cheese, herbs and seasonal fruits from local orchards. Breakfast is a feast of Cypriot syrup-drenched baked halva, cheeses, eggs and meats.
Byzantino: traditional Cypriot cooking, local produce. Mains from €13.50.
Loutraki: grill restaurant, dishes include rib-eye steak and pork fillet. Open Thurs-Sat for dinner, plus weekends for lunch. Mains from €20.
