OVERVIEW

UNESCO rates Arguineguín's climate as among the world's best. Many Norwegians have set up homes here, establishing a church and school in the area. The sleekly-designed Radisson Blu Resort, Gran Canaria gratefully laps up the rays, providing the best natural source of Vitamin D with more than 300 sunshine-filled days.

OUR REVIEW

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Following the extension of the GC-1, the GC-500, which the hotel lies on, is now a quieter road, and you are ten storeys below it if you are in the pool area as this upside-down resort finds the reception on the top floor. Nearby restaurant La Aquarela, sister restaurant of lobby-level 222°SW Bar & Grill, is one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants on the island.

By plane: flights from London, Birmingham and Manchester to Gran Canaria take around 4 hours 30 mins. The hotel is a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport. Free parking on site. Book flights to Gran Canaria.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

Previously built in the 1980s as the Steigenberger hotel, Sias Contract undertook its renovation, a company which prides itself on masterminding engaging architectural designs that are simultaneously captivating and functional. Handed a multi-million budget to work with, they purposefully reinvented the Steigenberger for the modern age. Its cool Nordic exterior lets the bright light in and allows the Canarian blue sky to work its magic.

THE FACILITIES

Radisson's client-focused American service (their head office is in Minnesota) ensures the nicest of stays. The concierge is available around the clock. As in 24/7. "Yes, I Can!" is the guiding philosophy behind the whole operation. There is a three-hour express laundry service available along with an express check-out.
