Novak Djokovic, Venus Williams and Kyle Edmund headline the opening day of Wimbledon 2019.

2018 men's champion Djokovic begins his defence against unseeded Philipp Kohlschreiber before women's number two seed Naomi Osaka takes on Yuila Putintseva and Kyle Edmund wraps up the first day on Centre Court against Jaume Munar.

Last year's men's finalist Kevin Anderson begins his campaign on Monday, as does Stan Warwrinka, Alexander Zverev, Simona Halep and Venus Williams, who plays 15-year-old Cori Gauff.

There is no immediate damger of rain delaying any of the action in the first week of play with sun expected throughout the week.

RESULTS UPDATE

Some results coming in now from the first batch of matches... 

Last year's finalist Kevin Anderson was a comfortable winner against Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who is partnering Andy Murray in the men's doubles - a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win for the South African. 

On Court 2, Stan Wawrinka has also strolled through, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2, against qualifier Ruben Bemelmans. Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam 'Stan the man' hasn't won, but he's off to a good start in 2019. 

Other notable results include Queen's champion Feliciano Lopez winning 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 against Marcos Giron, and 23rd seed Roberto Bautista Agut steaming to a 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 victory.
