Proud Eddie Jones felt England’s dominant scrum deserved more after defeat in Six Nations Ireland match

Follow live coverage as France beat England 25-13 in the finale of the Six Nations in Paris to win the Grand Slam and lift the championship trophy for the first time in 12 years.

Fabien Galthie’s side made history as they claimed a Grand Slam and a first championship title since 2010. Victory over England achieved both those goals but the pressure was on, as any other result would have seen Ireland snatch the title after they beat Scotland earlier in the day.

Tries from Gael Fickou, Francois Cros and Antoine Dupont secured the title for Les Bleus in front of a raucous crowd at the Stade de France.

Follow all the latest reaction from the Stade de France:

Wales 7-12 Italy, 45 minutes

So close to a spectacular score! What a tackle that is from Josh Adams!

Italy again steal breakdown ball and this time make the most of a left-ward overlap. Monty Ioane produces a delectable chip ahead that bounces perfectly for him, and Italy look certain to score as Ioane and Giovanni Pettinelli bear down on Adams.

Ioane eschews any thought of combining with his back-row and tries to burn Adams on the outside. He puts his foot down and looks set to race away, but Adams gets his thighs going to close the space and somehow snare Ioane and haul him over the touchline before the Italy wing can reach for the line. Crikey are Italy on fire - but might they rue that missed opportunity?

Wales 7-12 Italy, 44 minutes

Wales can make nothing of possession so Dan Biggar kicks high, Louis Rees-Zammit ensuring that Ange Capuozzo’s job is not simple - but the young full-back safely performs his duties.

Wales 7-12 Italy, 42 minutes

Louis Rees-Zammit is chopped down at the ankles and Italy soon win the ball back at a ruck. Giovanni Pettinelli combines with another Italian forward and stomps into the Welsh 22, but finds himself short of support and holds on, conceding the penalty.

Wales 7-12 Italy, 41 minutes

Nearly for Italy, but that’s the wrong time to kick! Giacomo Nicotera wriggles halfway out of a tackle, creating an apparent overlap on the next phase. Paolo Garbisi ignores it and drops the ball on to his left peg, but puts too much mustard on his little stab and it flies out on the full. He acknowledges the mistake.

Leon Brown is on for Dillon Lewis on the Welsh tighthead.

The second half begins!

Second half

The players are back out there. Alun Wyn Jones does not look particularly pleased, scowling as he readies himself for the restart. Cap number 150 has not gone at all to plan so far.

Smart approach from Italy

I think this has been a really sensible performance from Italy. They have kicked an awful lot, but backed it up by winning the contestable kicks and keeping connected when chasing after longer efforts. Can they keep it going?

Owen Watkin’s try

This is about the only bit of the first half that Pivac would have taken pleasure from, with Owen Watkin taking this try rather well.

Wales need to improve

That wasn’t great from Wales, though. Lateral attack, isolated ball carriers, aerial fragility - Italy have played the game largely in the right areas and been rewarded for it. Wayne Pivac didn’t look happy at all.
