From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The 2018 Ryder Cup is underway at Le Golf National. Jim Furyk has selected Tony Finau and Brooks Koepka to lead the US team out in Paris and they will be up against Thomas Bjorn's strong opening pairing of Justin Rose and Jon Rahm.

Europe 5/4
Draw 11/1
Sergio Garcia & Alex Noren vs Phil Mickelson & Bryson DeChambeau (A/S)
Mickelson's drive barely missed the water but Bryson DeChambeau has a good angle in for his first ever Ryder Cup shot. He steps up with his unconventional swing and plants it on the green unwaveringly. Noren goes 'I'll match that' and it's a putt-off.
Sergio Garcia & Alex Noren vs Phil Mickelson & Bryson DeChambeau (A/S)
Mickelson leaves his putt horribly short. Now it's Sergio and it looks in all the way but lips out right at the death. It's a knee-knocker for DeChambeau but he rises to it.
Rory McIlroy & Ian Poulter vs Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson (1UP)
Ian Poulter has struggled this afternoon and has failed to find the fairway with both of his drives. Bubba Watson does not do much better and it's all to play for at the third. Both pairs hacking around the long grass like spring gardeners.
Sergio Garcia & Alex Noren vs Phil Mickelson & Bryson DeChambeau (A/S)
Nice work from Sergio Garcia to tee up Alex Noren to tap the ball in with a after a lovely chip onto the green. The duo are forming quite the likeable partnership.
Rory McIlroy & Ian Poulter vs Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson (2UP)
There's not too much happening for McIlroy and Poulter out there at the moment. Simpson sank a chipped shot for a surprising birdie and McIlroy can't match it with a 10 foot put. The Europeans are two down and there is, you feel, more to give.
Fleetwood & Molinari vs Thomas & Speith (A/S)
Oh what a moment that could have been! Jordan Speith falls to his knees as his 25-foot putt wraps itself around the edge without sinking. Francesco Molinari has the chance to take this one and his effort from a much closer range goes in without any problems and the hole is halved.
Sergio Garcia & Alex Noren (2UP) vs Phil Mickelson & Bryson DeChambeau
DeCheambeau comes so close to holing a monster putt and make an unlikely save after Mickelson went into the water at the third but it just lips out. Noren now has two putts for it and he only uses one. They're two up through the first three.
Rory McIlroy & Ian Poulter vs Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson (2UP)
They're already two down and now Bubba Watson has a long effort to extend that lead on the fifth. He narrowly misses and the Europeans want to see the 3 foot return played. Simpson obliges. It stays at two.
Justin Rose & Henrik Stenson (2UP) vs Dustin Johnson & Rickie Fowler
Rose and Stenson's wonderful partnership is continuing here. The Swede's putter comes good at the sixth. Things looking good for the Europeans at the moment.
