From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Bayern Munich forward has scored 49 goals for club and country over the last year and will be eager to get off the mark against Senegal in Poland’s opening Group H game.
Former Birmingham and Portsmouth player Aliou Cisse is managing a Senegal side not short on quality. Sadio Mane and Idrassa Gueye have had good seasons for Liverpool and Everton, while Diao Balde Keita has been a steady goal scorer for Monaco.
Neither side were at the 2014 World Cup, but both will be very keen to get a positive result to give them a chance of qualifying from their group ahead of Columbia and Japan.

Prediction
3-1: Poland and Lewandowski have been in fairly hot form and are capable of putting a few goals past sub-par defences. Senegal have had mixed results in their warm up games and have not been particularly inspiring.
5 min: A less hectic start to this game than the last one, no goals, penalties or red cards in the opening five minutes
5 min: Both teams are just finding their feet but Poland have given away a corner
6 min: It's whipped in but doesn't beat the first man, Senegal continue to press though and force an easy save from Szczesny
9 min: Free kick to Senegal, who get the ball back in their own half
10 min: Mane feeds a through ball into Poland's area but it's covered by Szczesny
11 min: Yellow card for Krychowiak and it's a free kick for Senegal in Poland's half
15 min: Good defending from Koulibaly as he stops a Poland attack down the left wing in its tracks
18 min: CHANCE! Great play from Sabaly he gets the interception and cuts back inside before perfectly weighting a pass through to Niang who squanders that chance, sending very wide
