Yaya Toure is set to be offered an incredible £30m-a-year-deal to play in China that would make him the third-highest paid player in world football.

Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Manchester City next summer is widely expected to signal the end of Toure’s time at the Etihad, despite the 32-year-old being keen to stay.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Guardiola is already planning an overhaul of the City squad, and that will include the signing of a new central midfielder.

If that is the case there will be plenty of clubs interested in the four-time African footballer of the year, who has helped Manchester City to two Premier League titles.

It is understood three Chinese clubs have expressed an interest, one of which being Jiangsu Suning, who want to pay Toure a stunning £30m-a-year deal. That would see the midfielder earning £576,923 a week – more than double his current salary.

Lionel Messi (£47.8m a year) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£39.7m a year) are the world’s highest-paid footballers, ahead of Neymar (£26.8m a year).

Toure and Guardiola had their differences at Barcelona. In 2014, the midfielder was quoted as saying: “Whenever I asked him (Guardiola) something, he always gave me strange answers. He pretty much ignored me until City’s offer came in.

“That’s why I eventually opted to leave. I didn’t speak to Guardiola for a year. If he had talked to me, I would have stayed at Barcelona.

“I did not want to go and wanted to end my career at Barcelona. However, he had no faith in me.”
