Rangers vs Tottenham LIVE: Europa League result and reaction as Spurs and Gers play out thrilling draw
Rangers 1-1 Tottenham: An entertaining clash at Ibrox saw Dejan Kulusevski earn Spurs a draw after Hamza Igamane had given Gers the lead
Rangers earned a 1-1 draw with Premier League opposition as they and Tottenham played out a thrilling Europa League clash on former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou’s return to Ibrox.
A frantic end-to-end encounter saw Hamza Igamane give Gers the lead early in the second half but Postecoglou’s subs made the difference and Dejan Kulusevski finished off a lovely team move for the equaliser 15 minutes from time.
It means both teams are right on the cusp of an all-important top eight spot that would put them straight into the last 16 of the competition with two crucial group stage matches remaining in the New Year.
The draw does mean that Spurs have now only won one game from their last eight and the pressure on Postecoglou won’t have lessened too much after this result, although there were some positive signs from the English outfit.

Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 45 mins
Spurs are so open here (what else is new!) and every Rangers attack looks dangerous. This has been a very fun first half but we’re still goalless heading towards the break.
Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 43 mins
Superb by Igamane as he shows brillian footwork to slip past one, then two defenders. I think there were two nutmegs in there. The move ends with Tavernier clipping a cross to the back post but it’s a touch too long and Spurs can clear.
Gers try again as Bajrami pulls the ball back from the right by-line but there’s no one there.
Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 42 mins
Another Spurs corner, they go short this time and Son whips the cross in to Gray who gets a touch but the ball slides harmlessly wide.
SAVE! Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 39 mins
Brilliant save by Butland, who makes himself big and denies Johnson from about six yards out, who turned a Werner cross that came his way goalwards.
It turns out Werner was offside as he was slipped in by Maddison but Butland certianly didn’t know that when he pulled off the point-blank stop.
Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 38 mins
That’s the second kick in a row from Butland that he’s messed up. After a slip, he plays a hospital pass and Maddison is then fouled as he nicks the ball away. It’s a free-kick for Spurs 30 yards out, bang centre - tough angle to much with.
The ball is dinked out to Johnson and Ridvan isn’t quick enough to stop the corner, he dithered and didn’t hoof the ball clear in time. Son whips in the corner and Bentancur flicks it on but it goes harmlessly through.
Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 36 mins
Balogun immediately involved as he lunges to hook the ball away from a marauding Udogie. Well-timed by the substitute.
Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 35 mins
Bad news for Rangers, especially with a cup final to come at the weekend. John Souttar goes down in the centre circle after playing a simple pass and the medics come on, treating his left groin.
He hobbles off and will be replaced by Leon Balogun at the heart of the defence. As good as Balogun is, that’s a real blow for Rangers.
Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 32 mins
Cerny has looked lively down the right and runs at Udogie again. Then there’s an unforced error as Dragusin just passes the ball out for a throw as he’s being closed down.
Spurs have edged the possession stakes but Rangers have looked the more threatening.
Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 30 mins
Another cross from Jefte, this one more lofted, but Werner feels he has to put the ball behind for a corner. Cerny whips in the cross but Son hacks clear
CLOSE! Rangers 0-0 Tottenham, 26 mins
Jefte involved again, at the other end this time! He fizzes a stunning ball across the face of goal that is just begging for a touch in at the back post but Bajrami is millimetres away from getting there. Forster would have been beaten.
It looked like Bajrami could get there if he’d thrown himself at the ball but didn’t. Why not?! Diomande then takes fly from distance but shoots well over.
Phew - this game is a breathless one so far! Unbelievably open - typical Spurs, I suppose
