From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Southampton host Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening in rejuvenated spirits with results having sensationally turned a corner under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

The Saints have gained 13 points from their last seven games and now sit three points above the relegation places in 15th.

The hosts will fully expect to continue this against a Crystal Palace who also come into the game with confidence. Follow it live:

What time does it start?

Southampton vs Crystal Palace kicks off at 7.45pm.

Where can I watch it?

The match will not be shown live in the UK. Highlights will be shown on Match of the Day at 10.45pm on BBC One.

It’s a big game for…

Julian Speroni: With Crystal Palace’s injury problems in the goalkeeping position, third choice Speroni has been drafted in and suffered a horror game last time out in the league against Liverpool when he was at fault for two of their goals. The Italian was inspired against Tottenham on Sunday however and it seems that he is now a man on a mission to prove his class and produce in what could be his final appearances for the club.

Best stat…

11: It’s been 11 years since there was a stalemate in a meeting between these two sides.

Remember when…

Southampton beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in the 1976 FA Cup semi-final.

Player to watch…

James Ward-Prowse: Saints’ midfielder Ward-Prowse has scored in both of his last two league appearances, including a superb 20-yard effort against Everton, and is starting to fulfil on his potential under Hasenhuttl.

3 mins: Southampton 0 - 0 Crystal Palace

Southampton concede two quick fire corners but Palace fail to capitalise on the set plays.

3 mins: Bournemouth 0 - 0 Chelsea

Joshua King takes a right-footed shot from outside the box but the shot is blocked. Bournemouth have started the game well.

6 mins: Bournemouth 0 - 0 Chelsea

Chelsea recover and get the ball into the box from the wing aiming for Higuain. The ball goes past him but finds Kovacic who hits the crossbar with a strong header.

11 mins: Bournemouth 0 - 0 Chelsea

All Chelsea at the minute, Hazard whips the ball past Ake and takes a shot on the counter but it's an easy save for Boruc.

12 mins: Southampton 0 - 0 Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha wins a free kick for Palace but the teams look content to battle it out in mid-field with little action in the final third at either end of the pitch.

13 mins: Southampton 0 - 0 Crystal Palace

As I typed that, Luka Milivojevic gets the ball off Andros Townsend and lines up a right footed shot from outside the box. There's a moment of suspense but the ball sails over the bar as the attempt is too high.
