From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

FULL TIME!
Chelsea hold on for a deserved win. It could so easily have been a different result on a different day, with the Blues aggrieved that they didn't notch five, and Palace frustrated by a controversially ruled-out goal that could have earned them a point.
Stats...
Chelsea notched 27 shots to Palace's 9, while dominating the ball, seeing 64% of it. And that tells the story - to an extent. Palace were undone by two disappointing goals, one a deflection, the other an own goal - both of Martin Kelly. Their first half display was abject, but even though they improved in the second half, Chelsea still should have scored more.
Next up for them is a trip to the Nou Camp to face Barcelona, while Palace face Huddersfield in a crucial relegation showdown.
And that rounds off our coverage!
Thanks for staying with me this afternoon - until next time, good-bye!
