From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Tottenham have the opportunity to jump into third place in the Premier League, albeit temporarily, when they face Watford at Vicarage Road.
Spurs are level on points with Manchester United in fifth but could jump ahead of Manchester City on goal difference if they win against the Hornets, with fourth-placed Arsenal to play later on Sunday.

Palace will certainly be heartened by the absence of both Ozil and Walcott for Arsenal - is this game ready-made for an Allardyce upset?
Arsenal need to win to jump back above Man City and Spurs into third. Palace need a result to take them further clear of the drop zone. Here we go...
2 mins: Sanchez bursts into the area and wins an early corner for Arsenal. Palace clear. Bright start from Sanchez.
5 mins: Perez chases a long ball through the middle for Arsenal but Hennessey is quickly off his line and hoofs it clear. Arsenal making most of the early running at the Emirates, as you would expect.
6 mins: Close, twice, for Arsenal. Monreal slides the ball across the six yard box and Giroud is there but somehow fails to make contact form a couple of yards out. Then Elneny has a crack from the edge of the area but it's blocked by a defender.
9 mins: It really was a glaring miss from Giroud, who only had to get a foot on Monreal's cross and he surely would have opened the scoring.
11 mins: Townsend concedes a corner as Arsenal press. It's a poor one from Xhaka though, straight into the arms of Hennessey.
12 mins: It's all Arsenal. Sanchez lets fly with a cracking shot from 25 yards but it flies wide of Hennessey's left-hand post.
14 mins: Palace keeping their shape pretty well under early pressure, but they are sitting very deep and you wonder how long they'll survive. Allardyce looking pretty impassive on the sidelines, certainly doesn't seem unduly worried by the manner of Arsenal's start.
