From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

26: Victor Lindeloft finds Marcus Rashford with a long ball forward. The striker brings the ball down in the box and works it to Juan Mata who shoots and Alex McCarthy in position to make the save.
28: Henrikh Mkhitaryan gets the ball on the left, cuts onto his right foot and whips in a cross but Alex McCarthy collects the ball. That's better from Mkhitaryan but he's got a long way to go to rediscover his early season form.
29: Ashley Young rolls back the years to find space on the right and fizzes a cross to Marcus Rashford who meets the ball with his head but can only get under it and the ball sails on.
32: Paul Pogba clips a lovely pass to Jesse Lingard who flicks it over a couple of defenders then past Maya Yoshida and appeals for a penalty for handball but the referee says no.
34: Sofiane Boufal receives the ball from deep and has Ashley Young backtracking. Boufal tries an effort on goal but Young gets a block in and United clear.
The replay of that penalty shout shows Maya Yoshida had his hand in an unnatural position as he rushed in to close down Jesse Lingard who tries to flick it over him. United will feel they are owed a penalty.
Chris Foy on BT Sport says "the referee Criag Pawson's made the correct decision. It's not handball."
