Dutch newspaper De Telegraf have claimed that Van Gaal will retain his job and be given the large sum to spend in the summer, as United plan for next season.
It had been heavily reported that sacked Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho would be heading to United this summer to replace Van Gaal, but these latest reports from the Netherlands suggest otherwise.
While Van Gaal has failed to deliver the trophy craved by the United faithful, he has been praised for giving a chance to United’s youth players, such as striker Marcus Rashford, midfielder Jesse Lingard and defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
