From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Daniel Sturridge is unavailable for another ten days as he battles to reach full match fitness and return to the starting line-up.
“He's not with the team at the moment, that's right,” Klopp said on Friday morning.
“But we have enough games this season when we hopefully can use him but not, if nothing happens, for at least the next 10 days.”
Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel are also out of contention, all with the hamstring problems which have tormented Klopp’s early days at Anfield.
Long-term absentees Danny Ings and Joe Gomez remain unavailable until next season. Adam Lallana is the only new injury concern, having picked up a muscle injury which puts him in doubt for the trip to Carrow Road.
After an impressive showing in midweek, Jordon Ibe is likely to be recalled to the side after only featuring as a late substitute in the narrow home defeat to Manchester United last week.
Jon Flanagan, who made his full return from injury against Exeter City on Wednesday, is likely to be named among the substitutes.
