How was the season for you?: Reading
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

But how was it for you? Comment at the bottom of this article and have your say on your team's season.
Who has been your best player this season?
Marcus Hahnemann, as without him our “goals against” total would be even closer to Derby’s.
Who would you be glad to see the back of?
John Oster – only because he’s been made a scapegoat for no good reason.
What was your best performance?
It has to be beating Liverpool at the Madejski in December. Definitely a Reading victory rather than a Liverpool defeat.
And the worst?
Where do you start in a season littered with them?
Who have been your toughest opponents?
Arsenal. I came away feeling like I’d watched a Harlem Globetrotters-style exhibition match.
Best player faced?
Benjani. Everything he tried came off.
Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?
Two once-in-a lifetime matches in three months were bizarre, losing 7-4 at Pompey and 6-4 at Spurs.
Your perfect, but realistic signing?
Jimmy Bullard, now he's fit again. He’s a Steve Coppell type of player – hard-working, honest and committed.
Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?
The management must surely learn their lesson and not be so conservative in making signings.
Reasons to be gloomy?
Possibly 46. Our famous team spirit is coming apart at the seams.
Who will you support in Euro 2008?
Czech Republic. Matejovsky has shown some superb touches.
Overall assessment of your manager?
I still consider him the English Wenger, but his loyalty doesn’t seem to be quite such an asset when the going gets tough.
And overall assessment of your team?
The 2006 Championship team is starting to get past it’s sell-by date. Beating Liverpool and taking a point at Old Trafford is all very well but if you surrender meekly in matches like Bolton and Fulham there are problems.
Marks out of 10?
