Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The striker, who scored just 79 seconds into his England debut and then started against Italy, helped Mauricio Pochettino's team to win three of their four Premier League matches.
Kane scored twice in the 2-1 win away to Queens Park Rangers as well as firing his maiden senior hat-trick in the 4-3 win against Leicester City (even if one of those goals took a huge deflection).
The only blot on his copybook came as Manchester United dominated in a 3-0 win at Old Trafford. Spurs also lost in the Capital One Cup final on 1 March.
Kane won the award, powered by 90min, after he drew level with Chelsea's Diego Costa in the race to be Premier League top scorer - both players have 19.
Spurs travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Sunday.
