Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

GOAL
BOURNEMOUTH 1 - 0 SOUTHAMPTON
Ake has done it again for Bournemouth!
The home side go short with the corner kick and Wilshire delivers a delicate cross into the box and finds the head of Ake, who cleverly nods the ball into the corner of the net. Hojbjerg is left helpless in the box, as he attempts to defend the blindside run of the Bournemouth man.
That's his third goal in six Premier League starts for the 21-year-old.
10 MINS
Bournemouth are beginning to settle now and they look although the goal has given the whole team an injection of energy. That certainly was not in the script for Southampton, but it's early days and they have more than enough time to hunt for the equaliser.

GOAL
BOURNEMOUTH 1 - 1 SOUTHAMPTON
Bertrand bags the equaliser in style against his former club.
He picks up the ball on the left hand side, beats his man and charges into the box and fires the strike past Boruc from a tight angle. It's a tremendous individual goal and is an example of the endless ability of the 27-year-old.
It's all level - game on!
16 MINS
This has been an energetic start from both sides and both teams have come out with all guns blazing here at the Vitality Stadium - this derby has started tremendously.
Boufal finds himself in front of goal, but his strike on goal is deflected by Cook and falls nicely for Boruc. It's end-to-end stuff at the moment.
19 MINS
Bournemouth are knocking the ball about nicely at the moment, with Wilshire being a key element to the majority of moves.
22 MINS
Another defensive lapse from Hojbjerg gives Bournemouth possession in a threatening area, but Wilson is denied by Yoshida as he bursts towards goal. The striker should have looked wide.
25 MINS
Boufal finds space in front of goal and delivers a clever through ball to Redmond, who sends the ball across the face of the goal but Rodriguez clear the danger. That should be a wake up call for the home side.
28 MINS
Southampton are starting to maintain possession and control the tempo of the game. The home side have gone off the boil slightly since the Bertrand equaliser.
Youngster Reed is battling relentlessly in the middle there. He appears to be the anchor of the Saints midfield.
31 MINS
Wilshire begins a Bournemouth move and finds Daniels bombing down the left side, but his crossed ball into the box is unable to find Pugh. The width is really working for Howe's men.
