From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has not ruled out a departure from Florence this summer.

The 30-year-old is under contract with the Viola until June 2013 but has been a reported target of Barclays Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal.

Frey said to Gazzetta dello Sport: "I have spoken to (Fiorentina president Diego) Della Valle.

"I will speak again with him after the holidays.

"In life, at times, you need new challenges and I cannot hide the fact that I need that.

"Perhaps finding new challenges doesn't necessarily mean leaving, it could also mean that I could stay provided the team is reinforced.

"Next season we will not play in Europe and that is why we need a strong team to be at the highest level in Serie A."

Fiorentina failed to replicate the form of the 2008-09 campaign where they finished fourth.

The Viola ended the season in 11th place, 20 points behind Sampdoria, who clinched the last Champions League qualifying spot.
