From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Everton host Liverpool in the Merseyside derby looking to snap a 22-game, 10-year winless streak against their local rivals.

They enter the game in fine form, too, four wins from four games and top of the Premier League with their rivals, as defending champions, three points off the pace having been humbled by Aston Villa in a heavy 7-2 defeat before the international break.

Carlo Ancelotti has inspired the Toffees with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez shining so far this term, while Jurgen Klopp will also have the Champions League to consider and a trip to Amsterdam to take on Ajax just three days after this game. Follow all the action, updates, analysis and reaction from Goodison Park below.

45+4 mins: Half-time. Liverpool look the most confident team at the break but Everton have found a way to stay in the game.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Michael Keane keep the match all square going into the second half. It’s all still up for grabs.

42 mins: Firmino's low ball is aimed towards Henderson but a combination of Godfrey and Keane prevents him getting a touch from a few yards out.

39 mins: Slick stuff from Liverpool. The ball comes to Mo Salah on the right side of the box. A short pass finds Thiago and he returns the favour, Salah side-foots a shot but doesn’t get enought power on the ball to beat Pickford.

36 mins: Everton send a long free kick into the box. Mina wins the header and knocks it down for Doucoure who doesn’t get to the ball and Liverpool break on the counter attack. Alexander-Arnold sends it forward to Mane who wins another corner.

33 mins: Close. Very close from Sadio Mane. Mane nutmegs Doucoure with a pass to Firmino. He sends it out to Robertson on the left wing. Mane runs into the box and Robertson picks him out but Mane’s shot goes wide this time.

30 mins: Trent Alexander-Arnold curls a free kick into Everton’s penalty area and Yerry Mina is the first to the ball and he heads it clear.

Seamus Coleman is coming off for Everton. He looks to have pulled his hamstring. New signing Ben Godfrey replaces him to make his Everton debut.

27 mins: Liverpool break on the counter attack with the front three storming forward. Mane brings the ball down the left, Firmino runs into the middle of the box and Salah drifts in fromt he right. Mane attempts to pick out Salah, hitting the ball with the outside of his foot but the pass comes too close to Pickford who takes hold of the ball.
