From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Blues have their Champions League chances firmly in their own hands after they battled to a deserved win over the Hornets at Stamford Bridge. A tepid first-half was put behind them in the second with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuain all scoring to move Maurizio Sarri's side up to third above Tottenham and Arsenal in the race for the top four.
We'll have all the latest throughout the afternoon here.

Huddersfield 0-1 Manchester Untied, 34 minutes
Neither side has really got one right as of yet, and Aaron Mooy's delivery fails to beat the first man.
Huddersfield 0-1 Manchester United, 37 minutes
Juan Mata should do better there.
Paul Pogba clips him in behind and he turns nicely, spotting Marcus Rashofrd arriving into space to his right.
It is a simple enough pass, but Mata overhits it, dragging Rashford wide, Jonas Lössl forcing Rashford out of play and earning a goal kick.
Huddersfield 0-1 Manchester United, 38 minutes
Manchester United do look loose.
Alex Pritchard stabs across the six-yard box and Victor Lindelof has to be swift to keep the ball from rolling into Isaac Mbenza's feet, kicking the ball against the Huddersfield man and fortunate it flies over the bar.
Huddersfield 0-1 Manchester United, 39 minutes
And that's the clearest cut chance they have created.
Karlan Grant is freed in behind, one-on-one with David de Gea but met with a good low save from the Spaniard's feet, Grant failing to find the corner and rather trying to go beneath de Gea, an interesting decision given how adept the Manchester United shot-stopper is with his feet.
Huddersfield 0-1 Manchester United, 41 minutes
Off the crossbar!
Manchester United are doing well to get numbers into the box and Paul Pogba is always a threat in such situations, showing impressive flexibility to wrench his head backwards and turn Juan Mata's out swinger towards goal.
It loops and curls to the left of Jonas Lössl, who scrambles and likely had it covered even as the ball rebounds off his crossbar.
Marcus Rashford can't capitalise on the follow-up.
Chelsea 0-0 Watford, 41 minutes
Close for Chelsea, too, Pedro firing over the top after combining with Gonzalo Higuain.
Huddersfield 0-1 Manchester United, 45 minutes
A nasty arm in the back of the head for Marcus Rashford. I don't think there is much intent in the actions of Terence Kongolo, but he's caught the Manchester Untied striker, who goes down in some pain.
The medics will check him over, and after a couple of high-profile concussion incidents in the last week they'll be sure to take their time and make sure they follow all the necessary protocols.
Two added minutes at the end of the half.
Huddersfield 0-1 Manchester United, 45 + 1 minutes
Rashford trudges back on to the pitch and will continue.
