Roy Hodgson has selected Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph to start in England's friendly against Spain.

The tough-tackling former Aston Villa player has only recently recovered from an injury picked up while appearing against Switzerland at Wembley in September.

Delph plays ahead of Tottenham Hotspur pair Eric Dier and Dele Alli, who may have been handed their first international starts following James Milner's withdrawl from the squad.

Captain Wayne Rooney is on the bench, as expected, with Harry Kane leading the line. Joe Hart captains the side in Rooney's absence.
