Despite Euro 2020 to come next year, England are already preparing for World Cup qualification and a place at Qatar 2022.

The headline team drawn in Group I with Gareth Southgate’s side is Poland, who have a rich history of matches with the Three Lions, having met them in five previous World Cup qualification campaigns.

Southgate will have to contend with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski over two games against Jerzy Brzęczek’s side.

Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard scored in the last meeting between the sides, a 2-0 win in 2013 on the way to Brazil 2014, though the teams also met while qualifying for the tournaments in 1974, 1990, 1994, and 2006 too.
