From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Your support makes all the difference.Former Barcelona and Netherlands striker Patrick Kluivert is interested in becoming the new manager of Huddersfield Town after the Championship club parted ways with Mark Robins.
The 38-year-old was part of the Dutch coaching team under Louis van Gaal at the World Cup and would have been his assistant at Manchester United if not for Ryan Giggs.
Kluivert is keen to secure his first full-time management position and is attracted by the challenge of taking Huddersfield into the Premier League.
Coventry City boss Steven Pressley, however, is the bookies' favourite to succeed Robins after the former Leicester City player was sacked in the hours following the 4-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth on the opening day of the season.
Mark Lillis, academy manager of the Yorkshire club since 2011, has been in temporary charge of the team but is unlikely to apply for the position.
Town are hoping to have a clearer picture of their future plans ahead of their trip to Reading in the Championship on Tuesday night and may find Kluivert's international reputation too tempting to turn down.
The former Newcastle United forward scored 149 goals during his club career and has one La Liga and two Eredivisie titles to his name.
