From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. It’s a big game for…
Aitor Karanka. The pressure is on for the Middlesbrough boss as his side continues to languish at the bottom of the table, with just 22 points to their name.
The Spaniard is in desperate need of a big performance against City and should his men progress, it could help inject some much-needed confidence and desire into the north-east club as their fight for survival rolls on.
Best stat…
Middlesbrough have knocked out Manchester City in four of their last five FA Cup meetings, most recently in the fourth round in 2014-15.
Player to watch…
Sergio Aguero. Since being recalled to Guardiola’s starting XI, Aguero has more than proved his worth to Catalan. He’s scored five goals in his last four games and, despite failing to find the net against Stoke, could be the man to fire City to success on Saturday, whether he starts for the side or makes an appearance off the bench.

HALF TIME
MIDDLESBROUGH 0 - 1 MANCHESTER CITY
The visitors enter the interval with a one goal advantage, thanks to the opener from Silva just minutes into the game. Boro looked unorganised and slow at the start, but as the game progressed they appeared to find their feet. Karanka's men kept the clash alive with some menacing moves going forward, but their efforts remain unrewarded as City keep their clean sheet, so far.
It's far from over here at the Riverside.
48 MINS
Bernardo appears to have picked up a knock in the first half that is still bothering him. He's struggling to sprint, which will be music to the ears of the City striker's. There's movements of the Boro bench, so perhaps it could be an early end to the afternoon for the 27-year-old.
49 MINS
Silva gets a delightful chance to his double from close range, but he fails to convert. De Bruyne drags the ball back to the goalscorer in the first half, but his attempt flies way over the target.
52 MINS
The ball falls nicely for Zabaleta on the edge of the box, but his attempts deflected off the Boro skipper and it flies off for a goal kick.
54 MINS
Sane charges into the Boro box, but he slices his strike and it flies way wide. He's oozing with confidence today.
57 MINS
In the last five minutes, City have had 84% of the possession. That statistic sums up how this game is going for the home side. They are hunting possession, but are unsuccessful in their efforts so far.
