In a final that pits Jose Mourinho up against rival Antonio Conte, both managers know that defeat will leave them trophy-less this season – and for the latter that could prove to be the end of his reign at Stamford Bridge. Conte is expected to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, although there is hope that an FA Cup final triumph could yet keep him at the club.
For United, finishing the Premier League season 19 points behind Manchester City has been particularly embarrassing, and having failed to win the Champions League or EFL Cup, Mourinho will be desperate to add to his extensive trophy collection with the FA Cup.

A thoroughly deserved win for Chelsea in the FA Cup final. Eden Hazard scored from the spot after drawing a foul from Phil Jones in the 22nd minute.
After halftime Manchester United increased the intensity but Jose Mourinho could turn the score around and faces his first English domestic cup final defeat. While in the other dugout, Antonio Conte picks up his first ever domestic cup.
Gary Cahill, Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Thibuat Courtois have been speaking to BBC Sport after winning the FA Cup.
Gary Cahill: "Unbelievable! You can see what it means to us the staff and the fans. This was to save our season,were sued to winning. It's diff to do back to back league. He was fantastic as was all the boys we had a lot of defending to do they pushed us to the end. Azpi (Cesar Azpilicueta) has been superb all season and Thibuat (Courtois) pulled off some good saves.
"It's a dream come true this is the first one as captain of the club, this is extra special for me.
"We needed to achieve this goal for everybody, we're not in control of this as players. He'll make the best decision for him and his families."
Cesc Fabregas: "It hasn't been the best of seasons, we know that, we want to play Champions League. Sometimes these things happen. It was important to keep it tight we know we play with five defenders its more difficult to press high up the pitch, for the midfielders it's tough. We did it well we were compact and disciplined.
Eden Hazard: "We try to defend well. We just kept a clean sheet with Thibuat. We need to play better because we just played defensive.
"You just need to win an we won it, so we are happy. I'm just happy to see the fans celebrate the trophy. We didn't play a great season at least we finished well."
Thibuat Courtois: "The season has been long, ups and downs. I had a lot of bad words thrown at my head after the Barcelona game, but to keep a clean sheet and to win the FA Cup is amazing."

Mourinho: Chelsea don't deserve FA Cup win
"I congratulate them because they won, I don't think they deserved to win. They scored one more goal than us and I think I have to do what my job asks me to do and I have to be respectful, not just because they are my previous club but because they won the cup.
"I think we were the best team but that's football.
"I'm curious to know what you say and what you write because I can imagine if my team played like Chelsea did, I know what people are saying.
"The players gave absolutely everything. It was hard to play without Lukaku against a team who defend with nine players
"We try absolutely everything, it's the kind of defeat that hurts,but I go home knowing we tried everything. No regrets.
"This is the way they play with a bit more ambition on the counter attack. They are not stupid. They know our team without Lukaku we have no presence. By putting eight or nine players in front of the box they knew they were going to be dominant. Courtois had a couple of saves. David de Gea did not touch the ball. The team that scores one more goal wins."
