The French football league has decided to stop away fans from travelling to Ligue 1 matches this weekend.

The decision comes in the wake of the Paris terrorism attacks on Friday night that saw 129 people killed and many more injured.

Two bombs were detonated just ouside the Stade de France on Friday night during an international friendly between France and Germany.

Another friendly between Germany and the Netherlands was cancelled in Hannover just 90 minutes before kick-off on Tuesday because of a 'concrete bomb threat' at the 49,000-seat HDI Arena.

Despite security concerns, French sports minister Patrick Kanner announced all matches in the top two tiers would take place as planned this weekend.

He said: "Obviously the league took measures to secure all professional matches and the state will use its powers of policing to guarantee security."
