Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Memphis Depay had a superb performance as Manchester United come from behind to beat Club Brugge 3-1 in the Champions League.
The Dutch forward scored his first two goals for the club after his £25million move from PSV Eindhoven, the first a smartly taken finish after a nice touch and the second a wicked curling effort - he also set up Marouane Fellaini's crucial third goal.
His performance was hailed far and wide, with United manager Louis van Gaal even declaring "I want to kiss him tonight".
But unfortunately for United fans his performance also seems to have attracted the attention of supporters on the continent - with Real Madrid and cynical United supporters quickly deciding that the 21-year-old's future lies at the Bernabeu.
Someone has even managed to find an old Tweet from Memphis (dated February 2013) where he says 'Hala Madrid'.
It's not looking good... Here's some of the best reaction:
It was good while it lasted.
