Cristiano Ronaldo put the hosts ahead within twenty minutes with a tap-in after good work from Joao Cancelo.
However, the hosts were made to pay for not making the most of their other opportunities when Daniel Bessa nodded home from a yard out.
Paulo Dybala blew Juventus’ best chance for a winner 14 minutes from time, but the Old Lady still temporarily extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
Juventus came into the game looking for their ninth straight win in Serie A this season, and all seemed to be on track when a deflected effort from Portuguese right-back Cancelo fell kindly at the feet of his fellow countryman Ronaldo, who placed the ball past Andrei Radu from a couple of yards out.
The former Real Madrid winger was denied by the Genoa goalkeeper four minutes later after more smart movement from Cancelo and Juan Cuadrado, and it seemed a matter of when not if Juventus would add to their tally.
However, 22 minutes into the second half Genoa, who had been subdued for long period, suddenly drew level when Medhi Benatia failed to get out to meet Christian Kouame, whose cross was put on a plate for Daniel Bessa to nod past Wojciech Szczesny.
Juventus upped the tempo after the equaliser but only managed to churn out one more clear-cut chance, but substitute Paulo Dybala fired wide of the far post from Alex Sandro’s lay-off as Massimiliano Allegri's side failed to win for the first time this campaign.

57 min: PSG 2-0 Amiens
Having assisted two goals, it seems Di Maria wants to get one of his own from a corner. Fortunately for Amiens, Gurtner is alert to the danger and punches the ball out for another corner.
GOAL: Juventus 1-0 Genoa (Ronaldo 18')
Ronaldo's Juventus career may not be that old, but he will never score any easier goal than this, tapping in from a few yards out following a deflected effort from Joao Cancelo. Genoa's defending very questionable there.
23 min: Juventus 1-0 Genoa
Cancelo and Cuadrado have been heavily involved so far, and the duo combine to play in Ronaldo, but this time Radu gets down to deny the Portuguese.
