David Moyes is to be sacked by Real Sociedad with the next 24 hours, according to reports in Spain.

The former Manchester United manager took charge of Spanish side nearly exactly a year ago to the day, on 10 November 2014.

Sociedad have won just two of their 11 La Liga games this season and the club sit in 16th place in the league.

Moyes was sacked by United after just 10 months. He had been handpicked up the great Sir Alex Ferguson as his replacement, but it was a woeful tenure at Old Trafford. At the time of his sacking, then-champions United were seventh in the Premier League table, 13 points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with four matches remaining, ensuring United would fail to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1995.

The 52-year-old was due to fly to Spain from Manchester on Sunday night but his flight was delayed, and he is now due to return to San Sebastian on Monday when he is expected to meet with the club's president Jokin Aperribay.
