Crystal Palace vs Southampton LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction
Patrick Vieira has now earned three successive wins at Selhurst Park
French forward Odsonne Edouard’s first-half strike was enough for Crystal Palace to earn a narrow win over struggling Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Palace dominated the opening period and deservedly went into the break in front after Edouard steered home the ball from close range in the 38th minute after the Palace striker had an earlier effort ruled out following a VAR review.
Southampton were much improved in the second half, with Che Adams missing two glorious chances to level, while Stuart Armstrong’s low drive came out off the post.
The visitors could not find an equaliser, however, and Southampton stayed 16th in the standings, two points above the relegation zone, while Palace moved into the top half with their fourth victory of the campaign. (

Palace are keeping the pressure on here as they win a corner, which Eze floats the cross into the box. Andersen rises highest in the middle to thump a header towards goal, but it's straight at Bazunu.

Zaha turns to lose Diallo and he squeezes a cross into Olise on the edge of the box. He feeds it through to Edouard again, but he sees his shot on the half-turn blocked by Perraud.

OFFSIDE! It's too easy for Palace as Andersen just plays it long over the top for Schlupp. He flicks it onto Olise, who picks out the unmarked Edouard in the box. He coolly slots his shot through Bazunu's legs before the flag cuts short the celebrations.

Vieira also has his name taken by the referee. He's not happy with the number of times that Zaha has been fouled in this game, and he's making his feelings clear.

WIDE! Armstrong gets in Adams' way and it allows Palace to nick the ball back. Edouard comes away with it and lays it off to Eze on the edge of the box, but this time, he drills his low shot wide.

GOOD SAVE! Palace go straight down the other end, working it down their right once again, before Milivojevic tees up Eze on the edge of the D. He takes it first time, keeping his shot low, and Bazunu gets down to push it wide.

OFF THE POST! Diallo spins before playing it down the left for Adams, and he has acres of space ahead of him. He cuts inside and uses Andersen as a shield as he curls his shot towards the far post. It smacks off the woodwork just before a belated offside flag goes up.
