Crystal Palace vs Southampton LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction
Patrick Vieira has now earned three successive wins at Selhurst Park
French forward Odsonne Edouard’s first-half strike was enough for Crystal Palace to earn a narrow win over struggling Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Palace dominated the opening period and deservedly went into the break in front after Edouard steered home the ball from close range in the 38th minute after the Palace striker had an earlier effort ruled out following a VAR review.
Southampton were much improved in the second half, with Che Adams missing two glorious chances to level, while Stuart Armstrong’s low drive came out off the post.
The visitors could not find an equaliser, however, and Southampton stayed 16th in the standings, two points above the relegation zone, while Palace moved into the top half with their fourth victory of the campaign. (

OFF THE POST! Eze cheaply loses the ball and Southampton are able to break on another counter. Ward-Prowse threads it through to Armstrong on the left of the box and he fires a low shot on goal which smacks off the base of the post.

Southampton win it back high upfield through Maitland-Niles this time, and he switches it out to Armstrong down the right. Aribo and Adams both peel away to the far post, and he doesn't get enough on his cross to pick either of them out.

It's brilliant work from Zaha down the left as he loses Lyanco with some clever footwork. He drags it past him before pulling it back towards the penalty spot, but he can only pick out Maitland-Niles.

SAVE! Southampton are on the attack again and Armstrong gets a yard on Andersen as he drives into the box. He keeps his head down as he rifles a shot low towards the near post, and Guaita tips it wide with a strong hand.

GOOD SAVE! Ward-Prowse surges through the middle and is allowed to carry the ball a long way before laying it off to Adams on the edge of the box. He takes his shot first time, but it's straight at Guaita, who made himself big to smother it.

Big shouts for a handball from the Southampton fans and players as they claim that Elyounoussi's strike was blocked by Guehi's arm. It bounces off his calf onto his arm, and there wasn't much he could do about it.

The visitors commit a lot of bodies forward, which gives Palace the space to break on the counter. Eze slides it through to Zaha on the left of the box, and he checks back before curling his shot across goal. It's blocked by Salisu but the flag was up anyway.
