Chelsea vs Norwich LIVE: Premier League latest score, goals and updates from fixture today
Relive all the action from Stamford Bridge
A hat-trick from Mason Mount propelled Chelsea to a 7-0 win over bottom side Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday, extending their lead at the top of the table.
Mount opened Chelsea’s account when he sent the ball low into the net after a layoff from Jorginho in a move started down the left by the ever-busy Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The 20-year-old Hudson-Odoi earned his own reward 11 minutes later when he latched on to a pinpoint throughball from Mateo Kovacic and held his nerve to fire home past the outstretched leg of Norwich keeper Tim Krul.
A third Chelsea Academy product got on the scoresheet three minutes before halftime when Mount slid the ball into the path of Reece James and the wing-back produced a delicious chip over the advancing Krul.
It took 12 minutes of the second half for Chelsea’s, now purring, machine to score again when left back Ben Chilwell sent a Kovacic pass across the face of the goal and into the back of the net past a despairing Krul.
Norwich, who have failed to win a game this season and have scored just two goals, were in disarray and then suffered the indignity of an own goal from Max Aarons in the 62nd and a sending off for Ben Gibson after a second yellow card two minutes later.
Krul saved a penalty from Mount late in the game but VAR showed he had moved off his line and when the kick was retaken in the 85th minute Mount made no mistake. Mount capped off a fine performance with a tap in from a Ruben Loftus-Cheek pass in the 91st.
Brighton vs Man City
Manchester City have lost two of their last five away fixtures in the Premier League, winning two others and getting one draw. For Manchester City usual standards those stats may just give Pep Guardiola something to think about especially if they fail to beat Brighton at the Amex today.
Brighton vs Man City
Brighton are unbeaten in five Premier League fixtures, although they have drawn their last three in a row.
The Seagulls have been involved in 19 goalless draws since their promotion to the Premier League in 2017-18, the most of any team in the division in the same period.
Pre-match thoughts of Adam Lallana
Brighton’s Adam Lallana is expecting a tough game against the Premier League champions tonight but is relishing the challenge. Have a watch of his pre-game interview:
Guardiola on Brighton
Pep Guardiola has a soft spot for Brighton and enjoys watching them play under Graham Potter. Whenever the two side meet Guardiola is full of superlatives for the Seagulls. During his pre-macth presser he said:
“I enjoy watching Brighton. They are an exceptional team. They are the same team [as last season. We are] absolutely not [looking for revenge]. In football, you win or lose.
“Last season, we were champions. We were preparing to play the final of the Champions League. Now, we are fighting to be champions - there is a big difference.”
Potter on Manchester City
Graham Potter outlined the size of the task ahead of his Brighton team this evening during his programme notes for the game. He calls Man City the best team in the Premier League and say his players will have to play positively to beat them. He wrote:
Manchester City have consistently been amongst the best, if not the best, in the Premier League during my time as Brighton manager, and we know how good they are, and what the task in front of us is.
“They are a fantastic group of players, and with a manager and staff held in the highest regard. We know that we will need to be at our very best to keep our recent good run going, and the players will approach the game with the same positive attitude they have shown all season.”
Pep Guardiola not thinking about revenge as Man City prepare for Brighton
Pep Guardiola insists there will no thoughts of revenge in his head when he takes his Manchester City to Brighton on Saturday.
City blew a 2-0 lead to be beaten 3-2 at the Amex last season after having Joao Cancelo sent off just 10 minutes into the match, in which Guardiola confronted Brighton boss Graham Potter who subsequently apologised for some over-zealous celebrations of his side’s opening goal.
The defeat was a setback for City in the final weeks of their build-up to the Champions League final, but Guardiola said it had not been part of his thinking this week.

Head-to-head: Brighton vs Man City
Brighton came from 2-0 down to beat Manchester City 3-2 in this fixture last season so will be confident that they can challenge the champions this evening.
That win ended a run of seven straight defeats for the Seagulls against Pep Guardiola’s side in the Premier League.
Team changes: Brighton vs Man City
Graham Potter makes just one change from the team that drew with Norwich last time out. Solly March returns to the line-up replacing Shane Duffy.
Pep Guardiola meanwhile makes just two changes to the starting XI that faced Club Brugge during the week. Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez drop out with Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus brought in.
Line ups: Brighton vs Man City
Brighton XI: Sanchez, Cucurella, Dunk, Maupay, Trossard, Gross, Lallana, Moder, March, Burn, Veltman
Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Rodrigo, Gundogan, Bernardo, Jesus, Foden, Grealish
Last time out: Brighton vs Man City
Brighton’s start to the season has come even better than Graham Potter would have imagined. 15 points from the first eight games with four wins, three draws and just one defeat, against Everton. The Seagulls will play with confidence but they’ll understand that they’re up against it today.
Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne were on target for City as they swept Burnley aside at the Eithad Stadium. As you would expect City dominated possession and completed more than double the amount of passes as Burnley. Pep Guardiola will be wanting his team to continue thier good form to move within one win of Chelsea.
