Thomas Tuchel gives injury updates on Chelsea duo Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner

A hat-trick from Mason Mount propelled Chelsea to a 7-0 win over bottom side Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday, extending their lead at the top of the table.

Mount opened Chelsea’s account when he sent the ball low into the net after a layoff from Jorginho in a move started down the left by the ever-busy Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The 20-year-old Hudson-Odoi earned his own reward 11 minutes later when he latched on to a pinpoint throughball from Mateo Kovacic and held his nerve to fire home past the outstretched leg of Norwich keeper Tim Krul.

A third Chelsea Academy product got on the scoresheet three minutes before halftime when Mount slid the ball into the path of Reece James and the wing-back produced a delicious chip over the advancing Krul.

It took 12 minutes of the second half for Chelsea’s, now purring, machine to score again when left back Ben Chilwell sent a Kovacic pass across the face of the goal and into the back of the net past a despairing Krul.

Norwich, who have failed to win a game this season and have scored just two goals, were in disarray and then suffered the indignity of an own goal from Max Aarons in the 62nd and a sending off for Ben Gibson after a second yellow card two minutes later.

Krul saved a penalty from Mount late in the game but VAR showed he had moved off his line and when the kick was retaken in the 85th minute Mount made no mistake. Mount capped off a fine performance with a tap in from a Ruben Loftus-Cheek pass in the 91st.

Brighton 0 - 3 Man City

57 mins: Brighton win the ball in their own half with Trossard finding Moder on the left flank. He sends it quickly up to March who drives down the wing. Maupay makes a good run off the ball into the box as the cross comes in but he can’t quite reach it and City take over.

Brighton 0 - 3 Man City

54 mins: Save! Ederson denies Gross! This is miles better from Brighton who see a fair bit of possession around the City penalty area. The work the ball over to Trossard on the left edge of the box and he flicks it to the back post where Gross brings the ball down and hits a shot on the turn. His effort is straight at Ederson who blocks it with his chest before the ball comes loose. Maupay’s stuck on his heels though and can’t react quickly enough to poke it home.

51 mins: There are certainly more goals in this game. Foden curls a great cross into the box and almost finds Jesus but Burn dives at the ball and heads it out for a corner that Brighton deal with.

Kick off: No changes from either team at the break. Brighton seem to have switched up the formation though, moving to a back four with March pushing into midfield.

Graham Potter’s got the same half-time team talk to make that Daniel Farke had against Chelsea earlier today. Farke’s Norwich went on the lose that match 7-0, what will Potter’s Brighton do?

Go after City or try to limit the damage?

Half-time: Brighton 0 - 3 Man City

45+2 mins: The difference between the skill levels on display has been huge. Manchester City have been sensational over that 45 minutes and in contrast Brighton are putting in one of their worst performances of the year.

Graham Potter will be very disappointed with that opening half. His team let Man City run rampant.

Brighton 0 - 3 Man City

43 mins: Rodri gives the ball away to Gross who plays it across to Burn. He knocks it into March who shimmies to his right and drills one from just outside the box. Ederson gets across and blocks the shot, the ball loops into the air and the City goalkeeper is able to recover it before it goes out of play.
