It's not all about the action at the top though with Norwich, Watford and Brentford promoted to the top tier for 2020/21 and hoping to hold their own against the best English football has to offer and avoid the drop.

Even if there is relatively little left to play for, both teams have enjoyed promising moments during an open first half, which was beset by bad decision-making and a lack of cool heads in the final third. As the game has progressed, it has been Palace who have looked likeliest to break the deadlock between these two mid-table rivals, and their runners from midfield and full-back have threatened to overload Villa at times. With the scoreline still goalless, though, there remains everything to play for after the break.

As the first half nears its conclusion, Crystal Palace are on top, as Clyne and Mateta are involved in a move which breaches the Villa defence, but the latter's backheel towards Gallagher is misplaced and the attack founders.
