Blackburn refuse to speculate on Shearer's fitness, but centre-back Hendry is in line for a call-up after missing first two games with ankle trouble. Oldham are unchanged from squad who won 1-0 at Swindon in midweek.
Coventry City v West Ham
With three of the squad suffering ankle injuries McGrath, who has rejected Coventry's new contract offer and is available for transfer, could find himself back in midfield. Foster, recovered from calf injury, retains his place for West Ham.
Everton v Sheffield United
Everton's new signing from Chelsea, Stuart, steps straight into the side as Snodin (leg) is ruled out. Sheffield United's giant new Norwegian striker, Flo, makes his debut.
Ipswich Town v Chelsea
Ipswich's new striker, Marshall, battling against an ankle injury - Genchev awaits his chance. Forrest, back from World Cup qualifying duty with Canada, is substitute goalkeeper. Chelsea add Hall, Newton and Matthew to squad because of doubts over defenders Sinclair and Johnsen, who both face fitness tests.
Leeds United v Norwich City
Leeds' close-season signings Deane (knee) and O'Leary (eye and ankle) are doubtful and face fitness tests. Rod Wallace and Newsome stand by. Norwich are unchanged after midweek win at Blackburn.
Manchester Utd v Newcastle
Manchester United name an unchanged team for the third successive match, McClair and Sharpe are still on the substitutes' bench. Newcastle still lack midfielder Sellars, who has a virus.
QPR v Southampton
Queen's Park Rangers await late fitness tests on Peacock and Barker. For Southampton, Widdrington keeps his place in midfield and Benali is preferred to Charlton at left-back.
Sheffield Wednesday v Arsenal
Sinton, who turned down a move to Arsenal, could make his debut for Wednesday, with Waddle also due back. Warhurst may revert to defence. Merson could be in line for an Arsenal recall which means Parlour may be dropped. With Limpar - like Wednesday's Nilsson - on World Cup duty for Sweden, McGoldrick is set to keep his place. Young Scot, Dickov, is added to the squad.
Tottenham v Manchester City
Anderton is back in Tottenham's squad after an ankle injury and could replace Howells after a late fitness test. Manchester City captain Curle (hamstring) and newcomer Groenendijk (ankle) have been ruled out. City add Simpson and 19-year-old striker Mike to squad.
Wimbledon v Aston Villa
Wimbledon are without McAllister (suspension) and Fitzgerald (hamstring). Fashanu has recovered from ankle injury as Dons add Dobbs to squad and welcome back Fear and Ardley from injury. Aston Villa's Cowans is poised to take over from Townsend. Bosnich is kept out of goal by Spink.
TOMORROW
Swindon Town v Liverpool
Swindon Town add new signing Mutch to their squad, he is expected to link up in attack with Norwegian international Fjortoft. Liverpool starting line-up is unchanged, but Redknapp (ankle) is doubtful of making the substitutes' bench and Barnes (thigh) is still unfit.
