From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

↵Here we go!
Both men are in the ring, a huge moment Buatsi's career indeed. How will he fare in his biggest test to date?
Round one:
Conroy is just standing right in front of Buatsi and... he shouldn't be. The Olympian is able to land a number of right hands and if it continues this way, the fight won't be going on for much longer.
Buatsi looks composed and is commanding the ring well so far. A good opening round for him.
Round two:
Conroy is trying to give as good as he's taking but isn't having too much success when throwing. Buatsi's left is heavy every time he throws it. He's settled well into this fight and will be glad to be getting some rounds in.
He landed a couple of accurate big lefts at the end of the second.
Midway through the third round and Buatsi drops Conroy, who gets back to his feet but is then dropped heavily again with a big right. Conroy gets back up again but the final onslaught was too much and the referee steps in.
We have a new British light-heavyweight champion.
Joshua Buatsi
"First of all, I thank God. I feel honoured, humbled to win this belt. I didn't expect it [the support] but I appreciate it.
"Conroy tried, he caught me but I told him 'it's my time'. I wish him and his missus well. You get hit a bit but I always say get them before they get you.
"There's still a long way to go but I'm grateful. My job is to get ready to step in. Eddie, thank you. They boo you but you're guiding my career."
Dropped him twice, stopped in the third.
Joshua Buatsi is British champion after just 10 fights.
